Law Society’s 2020 budget decreases annual fees for lawyers and paralegals
Convocation approved the Law Society’s 2020 budget, which decreases the annual fees that lawyers and paralegals will pay. Next year, lawyers will see a decrease of $135, for an annual fee of $2,066, while paralegals will see a decrease of $109, for an annual fee of $1,006. Full story. Full Report

Rules amended to extend exemption from conflict of interest standard
Convocation amended the lawyers’ conduct rules to extend the modified conflict of interest standard to LAO lawyers who provide short-term legal services and lawyers who provide short-term legal services under the auspices of a clinical education course or program. Full story. Full report.
