Biographical Sketch
George Shirley Denison (1846-1876) was the eldest son of Robert Brittain Denison. John Shirley Denison (1870-1951), the son of George Shirley Denison, was a prominent Toronto lawyer and Treasurer of the Law Society of Upper Canada (1944-1947).
Scope and Content
Fonds consists of records of George Shirley Denison and his son, John Shirley Denison. The fonds includes an alphabetical index, notebooks, an account book, and a marriage contract.

Scope and Content
Series consists of an alphabetical index (no dates), a notebook entitled "Journal of Shirley Denison" (1885-1887) containing school notes as well as various newspaper clippings, a combined ledger and diary (1860-1863) listing various business and personal expenses, as well as daily entries of personal and family life in Toronto. Also included is a notebook (1896-1898) entitled "Books Read Since Aug. 27, 1896", and a ledger entitled "Account Book of Shirley Denison" (1897-1903) listing monthly personal expenses. The series also includes a marriage contract entered into between George Shirley Denison and Julia Isabella Jordan on September 9, 1869 setting out terms of the intended marriage, together with attached affidavit signed by Jordan's adoptive father, Adam Wilson. Files are arranged chronologically.
