Biographical Sketch
James William MacKinnon was born at O'Leary, Prince Edward Island, on November 19th, 1923. He received a B.A. degree from Acadia University in 1944, and entered Osgoode Hall Law School that same year. MacKinnon was called to the Bar on September 18th, 1947. He married Marion Elizabeth Smith, also a lawyer. He was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1985. MacKinnon died on July 18th, 2000.
 
Scope and Content
Fonds consists of two volumes of printed lecture notes by Professor Donald A. MacRae, a lecturer at Osgoode Hall Law School. The volumes relate to courses in evidence and real property. Both volumes were maintained by James W. MacKinnon, a law student who attended both courses by MacRae. The volume of notes on real property has been heavily annotated by MacKinnon.
