Biographical Sketch
William Hands (d. 1836) was a sheriff, customs officer, postmaster, registrar and judge of the Surrogate Court in Sandwich, Upper Canada.
Scope and Content
Fonds consists of a notebook maintained by William Hands while sheriff for the Western District (1803-1833). Most of the entries concern court actions where Hands had been called to summon witnesses and serve court subpoenas. The entries include information on the court, date, names of those summoned, name of the attorney, and the sheriff's fees.
