Dates to Remember for 2022-23 Incoming Paralegal Candidates

Candidates are required to also access their Law Society Online Account for further deadlines, notices and requirements pertaining to their status in the Licensing Process.

Deadlines are calculated using BUSINESS days, not calendar days unless otherwise indicated.

Application and Transcripts

  • Licensing Term
    2022-23 Licensing Year June 1, 2022 – May 31, 2023.
     
    Candidates who enroll in the 2022-23 Paralegal Licensing Process and/or register to begin any part of the Licensing Process in the 2022-23 licensing year will be considered a 2022-23 candidate.
     
    2022-23 Licensing Term June 1, 2022 – May 31, 2025.
     
    A licensing term generally consists of three licensing years. A 2022-23 candidate has until May 31, 2025 to complete the Licensing Process requirements.
  • Application Deadlines
    Online application launch October 2021
    Application (online and paper copy) due date December 1, 2021 by 5pm EST
    Application Fee due date December 1, 2021 by 5pm EST
  • Statement of Field Placement Deadline
    Statement of Field Placement Form due date Candidates must submit a Statement of Field Placement Form to the Licensing and Accreditation office no later than the applicable registration deadline for the examination sitting.
  • Transcript Deadline
    Transcript due date Candidates must have their institution submit an official final transcript no later than the applicable registration deadline for the examination sitting.

EXAMS AND STUDY MATERIALS

  • Exam Deferral Deadlines
    To defer an examination to a future sitting, candidates must submit a Registration or Deferment form to the Licensing and Accreditation office as an attachment through their online account no later than the deferral deadline.

  • Examination Registration
    To be fully registered for a licensing examination, the following conditions must be met:
    - If a candidate must re-schedule, re-write or defer an examination sitting, they are required to submit a Registration or Deferment form to Licensing and Accreditation in advance of the applicable registration deadline so that they can be invoiced and pay by the registration deadline for their sitting.
    - Candidates must be fully enrolled in the Licensing Process well in advance of the examination registration deadline in order to be invoiced for the examination and study materials.
    - Candidates must pay examination and study material fees no later than the applicable registration deadline for the examination sitting.
    - Candidates must submit a Statement of Field Placement Form to the Licensing and Accreditation office no later than the applicable registration deadline for the examination sitting.
    - Candidates must have their academic institution submit an official final transcript to the Licensing and Accreditation office no later the applicable registration deadline for the examination sitting.

  • Examination Dates

  • Examination Results
    Examination results will be released approximately 8 weeks after the last examination date in a test window.
  • Study Materials - Release Dates
    Candidates who wish to obtain access to the study materials must pay for the materials by May 20, 2022.

    All other candidates must make payment no later than the registration deadline for the examination sitting they select.  Please note that candidates will not have online access to the study materials until fees have been paid and the materials have been released for the licensing year.

    New applicants to the Licensing Process must submit accommodation request forms and supporting documentation by the application deadline.

    Candidates seeking a revision to an existing, Law Society-approved accommodation plan or requesting an accommodation based on a new or emerging condition/ground must make a request no later than the applicable accommodation deadline.

  • Tutoring

  • P1 Licensing
    To be eligible to apply for your P1 Licence, you must successfully meet all requirements of the Licensing Process, have no Good Character issues, have paid all required fees and submitted all required documents. For more information, see Paralegal Licensing.
