Request Time with a Management Coach Apply to Be a Management Coach

Supporting the Leaders of the Firms who serve the most Ontarians

Launched in 2016, the Coach and Advisor Network (CAN) is a well-established peer support program.  The New Management Coaching 2020 is an extension of this model with a focus on coaching for managers of firms with between 2 and 20 client service professionals practising law or providing legal services.

Volunteer Management Coaches, who are seasoned law firm leaders, will be matched with selected Firm Managers for up to 14 hours of one-on-one coaching by phone or video conference (or in-person if convenient) over a set six-month period from January 15 to June 30, 2020.

The coaching conversations will be driven by the concerns, goals and interests of the Firm Managers with a focus on firm management issues such as, operational effectiveness, client management, service innovation, talent management, and leadership strategy.

How It Works

Management Coach volunteer applications will be reviewed and assessed by CAN staff, and once approved, volunteers will be invited to participate in an intake interview to support optimal matching.

Firm Manager participant applications will be reviewed and assessed by CAN Staff to ensure they meet the program criteria and once eligibility has been confirmed, they will participate in an intake interview to confirm readiness for the program and to support optimal matching.   All applicants will be contacted, however, our ability to match will depend upon the availability of suitable volunteers.  Once a suitable match has been indentifed, the selected Firm Manager will be asked to pay an enrollment fee of $500.00 and the match will be confirmed.

Coaching will commence with email introductions in the week of January 15, 2020 at which time the Management Coach and Firm Manager can agree to a process to schedule a mutually convenient timetable for a series of telephone or video conference calls.  CAN recommends an initial intake session of 1.5 hours followed by hourly calls set on alternating weeks.  The program contemplates a 14-hour commitment over a six month period.
