Peer volunteers needed

The Peer Support Program offers those struggling with addiction, mental health, career, family or other issues, a connection with a colleague who has faced similar challenges. That peer provides support, compassion, empathy, non-judgmental guidance and selective personal experience, where appropriate. Peer volunteers are not counsellors, they are peers. Connections occur through confidential, private face-to-face or telephone conversations. Peer support is powerful in that through the kindness of a colleague with similar lived experience, stigma and isolation can be reduced and the potential for healing can be modeled and set in motion.

If you're an empathetic and caring lawyer, paralegal, law student or paralegal student who has struggled in the past with addiction, mental health, or other challenges, consider helping colleagues facing similar struggles by volunteering for the Member Assistance Program's confidential Peer Support Program and becoming a peer volunteer.

The Peer Support Program, an integral part of the Member Assistance Program, offers peer-to-peer support to lawyers, paralegals, law students and paralegal students. No experience is necessary - Homewood Health Inc. provides all volunteers with on-going training on effective ways to support others in the profession.

The program is administrated by People Corporation Inc. to ensure the full confidentiality of all client information.

For more information about this volunteer opportunity, send an email to peervolunteer@peoplecorporation.com or call 1-855-403-8922.
