Law Society to observe first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 30, 2021 marks the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This federal statutory holiday received Royal Assent in June and is intended to honour the lost children and residential school survivors, their families and communities. This is an important commemoration of the painful history and the impacts of residential schools which continue today.

Queen’s University Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law

As of August 1, 2020, the Queen’s University Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law (GDipICL) and the D.E.S.S. en réglementation canadienne et québécoise de l’immigration offered by the Université de Montréal are the only educational pathways for individuals who want to become Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs), replacing all Immigration Practitioner Programs (IPPs).

Contingency fee reform — enhancing consumer protection & reducing licensee burdens
