Ontario Judicial Council – Call for Applications

June 04, 2019
The Law Society is currently seeking applications from qualified lawyers for appointment to the Ontario Judicial Council.

The Ontario Judicial Council plays an important role in the administration of justice. The Council investigates complaints made by the public about the conduct of provincially-appointed judges. In addition, it approves the continuing education plan for provincial judges and has approved criteria for continuation in office and standards of conduct developed by the Chief Justice of the Ontario Court of Justice.

The Courts of Justice Act provides for a lawyer, who is not a bencher of the Law Society, to be appointed by the Law Society to the Council. The member holds office for a four-year term and cannot be reappointed.

The Council generally meets four times per year for an in-person meeting in Toronto.
