Licensees can access the 2021 Annual Report Filing through the Law Society Portal. The Annual Report Filing must be submitted by March 31, 2022.

January 20

Last day to enrol in Annual Pre-Authorized Payment Plan (Annual PAP) for annual fee. Licensees registering for the Annual PAP will be eligible for a discount of up to $50 on their 2022 annual fee. The discount will be prorated according to the licensee's fee category. Register for the Annual PAP through your Law Society Portal account. There is no administration fee for this payment option.

January 31

2021 Civil Society Organizations Report due. Failure to file by this date may result in de-registration of the organization as a CSO.

Certified Specialist annual fee and the Certification Annual Report due. Failure to submit the report and payment by this date will result in revocation of certification.

Last day to enrol in Monthly Pre-Authorized Payment Plan (Monthly PAP) for annual fee. There is an $80 (including HST) administration fee for this payment option.

First Monthly Pre-Authorized Payment Plan withdrawal. Continues on the fifth business day of each month from April to December.

2022 annual fee payment deadline. Failure to pay the annual fee by this date will result in referral for administrative suspension. (Not applicable to licensees enrolled in the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan.)

2021 and 2022 annual fee payment deadline for lawyers and paralegals approved for the 2021 Annual Fee COVID-19 Deferral Option. Failure to pay annual fees for both years by this date will result in referral for administrative suspension. Licensees approved for the 2021 Annual Fee COVID-19 Deferral Option who want to spread the combined payment of both the 2021 and 2022 annual fees over the year can sign up for the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan.

March 31

2021 Annual Report Filing must be submitted by March 31. Lawyers and paralegals who fail to complete and submit their Annual Report Filing by March 31 are subject to administrative suspension of their licence.

Final date for lawyers and paralegals subject to the 2021 CPD Requirement to record all required hours in the Law Society Portal. Failure to complete and record required CPD Hours will result in a referral for administrative suspension.

October 1 Professional Corporation Certificate of Authorization renewal available through the Law Society Portal

On or about October 1

LAWPRO 2023 Insurance Renewal Application filing begins: The online filing of Professional Liability Insurance renewal applications for 2023 is expected to begin.

LAWPRO real estate and civil litigation transaction levy filings and payment (if any) are due for the quarter ending September 30, 2022

LAWPRO renewal application filing deadline: For 2023 Professional Liability Insurance renewal applications received by LAWPRO (online or otherwise) after this date and up to December 1, 2022, an additional $350 premium will be applied to 2023 insurance premiums (subject to Program approval by Convocation). Lawyers who do not file by December 1, 2022 will pay an additional premium of $600 and a default policy will be issued on their behalf.
