2020 annual fee due

Licensees can access the 2019 Annual Report Filing (formerly Lawyer Annual Report, Paralegal Annual Report, or Canadian Legal Advisor Annual Report, as applicable) through the Law Society Portal. The deadline to file is March 31.

January 24

Last day to enrol in Annual Pre-Authorized Payment Plan (Annual PAP) for annual fee. Licensees registering for the Annual PAP will be eligible for a discount of up to $50 on their 2020 annual fee. The discount will be pro-rated according to the licensee's fee category. Register for the Annual PAP through your Law Society Portal account. There is no administration fee for this payment option.

2019 Civil Society Organizations Report due. Failure to file by this date may result in de-registration of the organization as a CSO.

Annual Pre-Authorized Payment Plan (Annual PAP) withdrawal date

Last date to qualify for a LAWPRO $50 early payment discount on the 2020 policy premium.

Last day to enrol in Monthly Pre-Authorized Payment Plan (Monthly PAP) for annual fee. There is an $80 (including HST) administration fee for this payment option.

Final date to pay the annual fee. Failure to pay the annual fee will result in a $150 late payment fee on or about this date and referral for suspension. (Not applicable to licensees enrolled in the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan.)

First Monthly Pre-Authorized Payment Plan withdrawal. Continues on the fifth business day of each month from April to December.

LAWPRO 2021 Insurance Renewal Application filing begins: The online filing of Professional Liability Insurance renewal applications for 2021 is expected to begin.

LAWPRO e-filing deadline for renewal applications: For 2021 Professional Liability Insurance renewal applications successfully filed online on or before this date, a $25 per lawyer e-filing discount is expected to be applied against 2021 insurance premiums (subject to Program approval by Convocation).

LAWPRO renewal application filing deadline: For 2021 Professional Liability Insurance renewal applications received by LAWPRO (online or otherwise) after this date, a surcharge equal to 30 per cent of the base premium is expected to be applied against 2020 insurance premiums (subject to Program approval by Convocation).

Failure to renew the Certificate of Authorization for a Professional Corporation by this date will result in expiry of the Certificate

Final date for lawyers and paralegals subject to the CPD Requirement to complete all required hours and record them in the Law Society Portal, including a total of 3 EDI Hours between 2018 and 2020. Failure to complete and record required CPD Hours will result in a $200 late reporting fee on or about this date and referral for suspension.
